Faith2Action Obama Health Care is Evil God Will Punish Democrats

By Mike Hammer (alias the peasant)

The healthcare debate continues but it is already clear that the needed changes are not going to happen. There was too much resistance to change and embedded well funded special interests are too powerful for Congress to push aside. Obama tried to take advantage of the economic crisis to sneak through reform, but the pre-crisis power alignment is still in place. In other words, the economic disaster changed nothing. It is business as usual.

It may be business as usual in Washington, but not for the American people. Things may never be the same for them. Our net worth has been cut in half and our life styles are in decline. Since wages have been stagnant for years now, what we really needed was a break on these health insurance premiums. It’s not going to happen.

I’m looking for the powers that are preventing me from getting a break. They may be corporate robbers, right wing extremists, or congressmen beholden to some corporate donor. There is also hometown America pushing their religious agenda and that is where my focus is today. Here’s what I’m up against:

“We are experiencing something called consequences. On Nov. 4 our choices for death and socialism caused cultural earthquakes that have pegged the Richter scale. Now brace yourself for the tsunami that’s coming.”

“We have chosen evil, and now the enemy that seeks to kill (through socialized medicine), steal (through historic tax increases like cap-and-trade) and destroy (our freedoms through “hate crimes”) is coming in like a flood.”

Opposition to the healthcare crisis finds its roots in religion. Apparently, the election of Obama was similar to making a deal with the devil, and the wrath of God will soon befall us. Those of us who voted democratic voted to kill, steal, and destroy. Well I voted for Obama, and quite frankly, I thought I was voting out evil. So did everyone else who made that vote.

Anyway, these extremists are not susceptible to reason or civil discourse. Obama and the democrats are the enemy of God and must be snuffed out. Divine punishment is our lot, and these people are wielding the sword of God. That’s what you get for crossing the healthcare industry.

Actually, this article gets worse, but I’ve made my point. Some of what they say is over my head, for instance, how supporting healthcare reform is the same as supporting death. And why God looks upon democrats the same way he looked upon the ancient Egyptians (I expect to be swarmed with a plague of locusts and coved with boils by the end of the week).  This rhetoric is scary and the type of thing you’d hear in Iran or Saudi Arabia.

Sadly, republican politicians cater to this madness. They incite it because it gives them a political base they can exploit. This leads to obstructionism in Washington and hence affects me personally.

I am a Christian, and spent years learning my religion while attending Catholic school. There is nothing diabolically biblical about Obama. He is not an Old Testament Babylonian type personality. His skin color is darker than his predecessors, and he will represent people of color with more enthusiasm than his predecessors, but their voice deserves to be heard and it’s their turn now, they earned that right fair and square.

I can’t tell if God takes sides in a healthcare debate, but these people can. Using the bible to defend hate speech is wrong and I don’t have to be God to know that. They’re going Old Testament here; they actually want to see a lot of people get hurt.
