Joseph Farah WorldNetDaily Blames Entitlements for Loss of Freedom Corporate Overlords

FarahRead these beautiful lines written by Joseph Farah of WorldNetDaily. He writes about America and freedom in a veiled attack on entitlement programs.

“I have a dream that America will return to its heritage of freedom.”

“But before that dream is realized, we’ve got to recall what freedom means. We’ve got to understand that “rights” are not goodies to be appropriated by government. We’ve got to remember that with freedom comes responsibility. And we’ve got to learn that government’s power in a free society is limited to safeguarding liberty and the ability of citizens to govern themselves. “

Our freedoms have not been eroded by government, but it’s a constant theme from the right wing. Sure if you consider being forced to pay taxes a tyrannical act, and your loss of choice not to pay taxes a diminution of freedom then you’d be right, you have lost some freedom. Then again the price of freedom is not cheap, and it’s certainly not free so what are you going do?

The essential right wing argument is that government’s sole role is national defense, and that its citizens are responsible for their own livelihood without government subsidy. The country was founded on this arrangement with the government securing the environment by which individuals can pursue happiness through the fruits of their own labor.

It’s a beautiful thing. I agree it‘s what this country is all about. The politicians in Washington have no right to legislate a different arrangement that transforms this republic into something different from what is was drawn up to be.

I think Farah is ignoring our domestic enemies. Washington has safeguarded our liberty from foreign aggressors, but has hung us out to dry to a far more menacing threat, corporate control of American citizens and their representatives in Washington. I’m on the same page with Farah on most issues, but he ignores this issue entirely while I believe my freedom has been exchanged in favor of corporate freedom. Moreover, I think corporate welfare is a bigger scandal than handouts to those who shun hard work and personal responsibility.

The only way I can protect myself from corporate thieves, and to becoming a beast of burden of corporate overlords, is by government regulation and policing. We witnessed the big banks and Wall Street gamble away our deposits and 401K savings. This is criminal behavior and there were government agencies and regulators in place whose job it was to prevent this very thing from happening. In reality, the heads of these agencies were more sympathetic to the wealth to be made by these risky bank investments than to protecting depositors and the integrity of the banking system.

It seems as if the banks and the regulators were in bed together. The victims of this ponzie scheme were the American citizens. Victimized in part by their own elected officials sworn to protect them. My net worth was cut in half and my government pushed close to insolvency trying to prevent a complete collapse of the banking system and by extension the entire economy.

When you lose half your wealth you lose a lot of freedom. When the banking system freezes up and needs to be bailed out you lose a lot of freedom. When the country falls into a deep recession that will take years to recover from you lose a lot of freedom. When you have a right wing congress and president who stand by and watch it happen you lose a lot of freedom.

The question I have for the right wing is how much longer are you going to put up with this before you realize what’s going on and refuse to put up with it? Stop defending the rape of America. Don’t standby and cheer on its demise. You’re being destroyed from within, not by a few terrorists who managed to get by airport security in a foreign airport.

Look in the mirror and you’ll see the real reason for the loss of your freedom. It’s you. Don’t let free market criminals and their corporate operatives in congress drag you into servitude. They have already taken your country away. There now after the shirt on your back. If they’re going to get it at least don’t hand it to them.
